Jillian has lived in Castro Valley a combined 35 years. She has a 3rd grader and two 2nd graders at Proctor this year. Jillian has a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Cal State University, East Bay and has recently completed her AA in Allied Health at Chabot College. Jillian has previously sat on the Castro Valley Parent Nursery School Board as both the Orientation 2nd VP Chair (2017-18) and as the Membership VP Chair (2018-19). Jillian currently works for a local Real Estate Group as the Marketing and Office Manager and is in the process of getting her Real Estate License. Her passions include music, crafting, continued education and reading.
Nripesh has a family of four that has lived in Castro Valley for the past five years. He is from the mountainous country of Nepal (home of Mt. Everest!) and came to the US in 2002. He has a 7 year old daughter who is in 2nd grade at Proctor and a 5 year old son who can't wait to go to Proctor! Nripesh has a Ph. D. in Molecular Genetics from The Ohio State University and is a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University in the Department of Genetics. He is currently a Product Development and Marketing Scientist for a Biotech company in the UK. In his spare time, Nripesh along with his wife run a parent driven Nepali language co-op school on the weekends, go hiking & camping with kids, and read books. Nripesh also loves to cook and thinks he is an ok gardener (although he needs more skills there)!
Ebony grew up in sunny Southern California but came to her husband's hometown of Castro Valley in 2007. She is an All American track athlete and has a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Cal State University, Stanislaus.
When not busy working in her family business, she enjoys spending time with her two rambunctious boys, 7 and 10, interior designing, volunteering, traveling, and making memories in the beautiful Bay Area.
Ben is a Bay Area native and has lived in Castro Valley since 2013, with his wife Jude and daughter Phoebe (Proctor class of 2022). He has a B.A. in Economics from UCLA (‘99) and a Masters in Education from SFSU (‘07.)
Ben works in the field of Instructional Design, with a range of experiences developing corporate training content for a range of industries and companies. His hobbies include travel, biking, softball, guitar, singing, and he’s a avid sports fan of the A’s, 49ers, Warriors, and UCLA.
Tina Pyles has lived in Castro Valley on and off for 28 years. She attended Palomares, Marshall, and Independent as an elementary school student. She has boy/girl twins in the second grade. Tina graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in International Economics and a minor in French. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, baking, sewing, knitting, painting, and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
Born and brought up in Pasadena, California, Josie has lived in Castro Valley with her spouse and twin boys for 7 years now. She is a founding member of Rise Up and started her tenure in public health 20 years ago working in Central America and Mexico with youth in the area of sexual and reproductive health and rights. Today she leads program and curriculum design, and oversees Rise Up’s monitoring and evaluation strategy, with the goal of capturing programmatic successes and lessons learned from our leaders around the world in gender equity and advocacy. She has a BA in English and Spanish from Stanford University and a Master's degree in Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Josie spends her time enjoying the sunshine of the East Bay with her family and ideating revolutionary children’s books at the Proctor Book Fair every year!
Dayna has 2nd grade twin daughters at Proctor this year. Dayna has an B.A. in Development Studies (International Studies, with a focus on Latin America) from UC Berkeley and a M.S. in Environmental Science from UC Santa Barbara, and works as an Environmental Scientist. She loves to hike, see live music, be creative with her daughters, and garden.
This is Sarah’s 2nd year serving on the Proctor PTA Board as Parliamentarian. She is finally starting to understand what a Parliamentarian does, which makes her uniquely qualified for this position. She has two girls, a 4th grader and a 2nd grader at Proctor. Although her home life isn’t always orderly, she hopes that with her help the PTA meetings will be.
Heather Ghereben is beginning her third year as Principal at Proctor Elementary School. She has lived in Castro Valley for more than 29 years, and is a mother of three children, two of which are CVHS graduates (one just this past May) and a CVHS Freshman this year. This October she will celebrate 23 years of marriage to her incredibly supportive husband. Before becoming an administrator years ago, Heather served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles over the past 21 years, primarily in the Hayward Unified School District. Some of the roles she has held include classroom teacher, literacy coach/staff developer, district GATE coordinator, and most recently a K-5 Assistant Principal at James Dougherty Elementary, in the Dublin Unified School District.

Maria Reyes is originally from Singapore, and lived in Hawaii while pursuing her undergraduate degree from Hawaii Pacific University and finally ended up in the Bay Area in 2009. She has a 5th and a 2nd grader at Proctor. Maria works in marketing at a tech company. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, painting, cooking, traveling, movies, spending time with her friends and family but her biggest passion of all is eating. So if you love food and have a place to recommend, or an amazing go-to recipe, she would love to hear about it.
Rachael was born and raised in Oakland, California. She attended UC Santa Cruz for her undergraduate degree and San Jose State University for her graduate degree where she received a Masters in Social Work. She worked for the Veterans Administration with homeless veterans from 2002 to 2016. She decided to pursue her passion for homemaking full time in 2016. Rachael has a sixth grade son (Proctor Grad) and third grade & kindergarten daughters at Proctor. Rachael is a proud wife of an Oakland Fireman, Battalion Chief Anthony Sanders. She enjoys baking pies and treats for her family and friends in her spare time.
