Sarah was born right here in Castro Valley at Eden Hospital! Her family moved to Danville when she was two, and that’s where she grew up. Sarah graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a BS in Liberal Studies and two teaching credentials. She taught middle school math and elementary school for eleven years before deciding to stay home with her own kids. Her two sons attend Proctor (2nd grade and Kindergarten) and her daughter is 2. Sarah is excited to join the PTA as a Parent (instead of a teacher). In her spare time, she enjoys paper crafting, baking, reading, camping, and traveling.
Vanessa Rhodes and her family live in Fairview, just south of Castro Valley, but feel lucky to be part of the Proctor family through an inter-district transfer. She loves how the mix of families from different places brings fresh perspectives, new friendships, and an even richer learning environment for all our kids.
With an incoming first grader and third grader, Vanessa is excited to jump in as PTA Vice President—helping to support our amazing teachers, bring families together, and create fun, memorable experiences for students.
Professionally, Vanessa has a background in political and labor organizing with a deep commitment to economic and social justice. She looks forward to bringing her organizational skills, creativity, and collaborative spirit to her work with the PTA.
Marisa was born and raised in the East Bay and has happily called Castro Valley home for the last 10 years. She has earned two Master's degrees, one from Saint Mary's College and one from USC; an MFA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Teaching, respectively. She has worked in education for over 15 years and enjoys being an active participant in the Proctor community. In her free time she loves to spend time with family, go hiking with friends, and travel when she can!
Julie was raised in the Seattle area and moved around the country for a few years before finally calling the Bay Area home in 2014. She and her husband settled in Castro Valley in 2019 to bring up their 2 children in the Proctor district. Julie has a BA in Business Administration from Azusa Pacific University and a Masters of Organizational Leadership and Strategic and Organizational Communication (MAOL&SOC) from Gonzaga University. When not at work, Julie enjoys getting crafty - with paint!
Gabby grew up in Los Angeles, California and moved to the Bay Area for school. She has lived in Castro Valley for the last 18 years with her husband. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Gabby works full time with Kaiser Permanente. She has twin daughters who are in 4th grade at Proctor Elementary. She loves to spend her free time with her family and enjoys traveling. She enjoys volunteering and helping out.
Alicea was born and raised in the Bay Area and, drawn to Castro Valley's quaint charm, put down roots here 9 years ago. A passionate Proctor parent and mom to a fourth grader and second grader, she brings collaborative energy to our school community. She cherishes Proctor's caring staff, engaged parents, and supportive leadership, and sees her PTA role as a chance to give back to the school family that has embraced hers since their pandemic-Kindergarten days. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exploring Bay Area trails with her family, and embracing adventures big and small

Hollie was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and spent her childhood living all around the United States before ending up in the Bay Area. She studied mechanical engineering at Stanford University and worked at medical device startups until she changed gears to stay home with her children. She has two students at Proctor and one at Vannoy. She enjoys coaching youth sports, getting in way over her head on projects around the house, and playing guitar.
Janel Coughran grew up in the Seattle area, graduated from the University of Puget Sound in Comparative Sociology, and then moved to California where she met her husband. She taught high school American Sign Language until her first son was born, when she quit to stay at home with him. The family moved to London for nearly three years and came back in 2021 when her oldest started kindergarten at Proctor. He is now in 3rd grade and the youngest is 4. Anytime her hands are free, Janel is knitting or learning to sew and crochet. Her dream is to open a yarn shop and teach others to craft.
Dusty grew up in northern Minnesota before moving to the Bay Area. After working in Enterprise software, she took a break to focus on raising her children. She has two kids at Proctor and one at Vannoy. In her free time, she enjoys photography and beekeeping. She also shares her home with a variety of pets.
Darlene hails from the Mojave desert and 1st came to the Bay Area to attend Stanford University. Since completing a B.A. in Human Biology she has taught 7th grade humanities, worked on teacher quality projects, directed a summer camp for gifted students and is now in her 11th year as a school princpal. She holds MAs in Counselor Education and School Administration, and has two children who recently graduated from college (Hurray!).

Michelle grew up in the Bay Area and is the mother of a Proctor first grader. She was formerly an elementary school teacher after graduating from UCLA and receiving her MA and credential from SJSU. She is now the primary caregiver of her three children. Her hopes for this year is to be actively involved and to help build a bridge between teachers and families in order to have a thriving community. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting, traveling, crafting, and baking.
Alessandro grew up in the Italian countryside where his high standards for good cuisine were born. After completing his undergraduate studies in Milan, he pursued a graduate degree in Tokyo where he spent three years developing a taste for something new. He came to the US in pursuit of a PhD and explored the fine foods of Chicago (like deep dish pizza), where he met his wife - a fellow engineer. In 2013, they moved to the Bay Area and started a family (twin daughters – now proud 2nd graders at Proctor). Alessandro spends his days engineering skyscrapers, bridges, and artwork, but you can regularly find him (literally) running around town, spending time with his family, traveling the globe, and cooking, of course.
Jersey grew up in the Bay Area and has lived here most of her life, before settling in Castro Valley. She studied biology at UC San Diego and later earned her Master of Public Health from UC Berkeley. She now works as a program manager for Contra Costa Health, helping make sure everyone in the community can access quality health care.
She and her husband have a son in first grade and a daughter who will be a Lion in 2027. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, gardening, and reading. She's excited to be part of the Proctor community!
Tammy was born in Oakland, California and spent most of her childhood moving between the Bay Area and Hong Kong before she ended up in Castro Valley and attended CVHS. She graduated from Cal State Hayward (now CSUEB) and received her B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Advertising. She has two children attending Proctor Elementary. She loves crafting anything, baking, cooking and getting out of escape rooms!
Faye is definitely a local girl, born and raised in the East Bay. She earned a BA in Graphic Arts at California State University, Hayward. After working at a printing press and an advertising agency, she eventually pursued a freelance career, offering graphic design, photography and other creative ideas. Now her main responsibility is her two daughters, who attend Proctor Elementary. She is always interested in figuring out different creative processes and currently enjoys gardening, sewing and reading.
Robin was born and raised in Castro Valley and even attended Proctor. She has her B.A. in Liberal Studies from Cal State East Bay, and worked as a director at Adventure Time before making the decision to be a stay at home mom. She has an 8th grader at Canyon and a 5th grader at Proctor. Robin has really enjoyed helping to revitalize Proctor’s garden over the last few years and feels lucky to get to learn alongside the kids in garden club. Other things that bring her joy are reading, hiking/exploring, baking, and enjoying coffee and pastries with friends.
Rebecca was raised in Clovis, CA and moved up and down California as an adult. She holds a Psychology degree and settled in Castro Valley to start her family 14 years ago. Being a Realtor, her self employed lifestyle allows the flexibility to be heavily involved in the community. With a 10 year old son attending 4th grade, Rebecca volunteers at the school, C.V. little league board and helps run the C.V. Freecycle page with her peers. With time left she is usually sitting at the sports field cheering on her child.
Rosa Leither grew up in Montana but has been a Californian for 20+ years now. She is a writer, journalist, and musician. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Cal Poly, SLO and her master’s degree in Creative Writing from St. Mary’s College of California. She has two enthusiastic children at Proctor, Itasca and River, (4th and 2nd grades). First an art/music volunteer for Proctor’s PAC program and then a library volunteer and PTA Parliamentarian, she is thrilled to serve as Safe Routes to School lead this year. She is passionate about pedestrian and bike safety. You may see her zipping her kids around town on her cargo bike or walking her kids to school. If you park up on the sidewalk area near Proctor you can expect her to knock on your window and ask you to park in the street, where cars belong. Let's all keep Proctor safe for pedestrians this year!

Nat, born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, immigrated to the United States and completed her high school education at Dos Pueblos High School in Santa Barbara. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration, concentration in accounting, from California Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, and her master’s degree in taxation from Golden Gate University. As a CPA, she worked in a public accounting firm for 12 years before deciding to take a break from her career to focus on her two sons. Her eldest son is six years old and currently a first grader at Proctor Elementary School. In her free time, Nat enjoys traveling with her family, exploring new cities and countries.
